Do I need an account just to try it?
No. You can play the full tournament, resume results on this device and print the bracket without an account. An account is for registration and shared links.
What’s the difference between a bracket and a tournament tree?
None here — both describe the same thing: the structure showing who plays whom, round after round, down to a champion.
Does the generator schedule match times or courts?
No. It builds the round-by-round pairings — who plays whom, and in what order — but it doesn’t assign a time or a court. A Rally tournament carries a start date, an end date and a venue; splitting the matches across the day stays your call.
Can I switch formats after I’ve started?
Yes, before you start. Once the local tournament begins, its format and teams are locked because the standings and bracket depend on results already entered.
How many teams can I put in a bracket?
The try-it-out generator takes 2 to 32 teams, and at least 3 for double elimination. That ceiling belongs to the page, not the product: past it a round robin runs over 400 matches and stops being readable in a browser. A tournament created in Rally has no such limit.
What can I preview for a Swiss tournament?
Add your teams and round count and Rally produces the opening pairings immediately, then creates each following round after the previous results so teams with similar records meet.
Does Rally work well on a phone?
Yes. The bracket, standings and score entry are built phone-first — that’s where most spectators and scorekeepers actually use it during a real tournament.

Four formats, four ways to run a tournament.
The generator above builds the three complete structures that exist up front, plus round one of a Swiss tournament. Later Swiss rounds depend on results.
Round Robin: everyone plays everyone.
Each team faces every other team across a series of rounds, so the standings build up over the whole event instead of hinging on one knockout match. It’s the format that guarantees the most games per team — good when you don’t want anyone going home after a single loss. Rally can chain a finals bracket onto the end: the top teams from the standings move into a knockout stage to crown a champion.
Single Elimination: lose once, you’re out.
Teams are placed into a classic bracket where every loser is eliminated and every winner advances to the next round, all the way to one final. It’s the fastest format to run and the easiest to read at a glance on a screen or a wall — a bracket that narrows down to a single champion.
Double Elimination: one loss doesn’t end your night.
Two brackets run side by side: a winners bracket, where a first loss drops a team into the other bracket instead of eliminating them, and a losers bracket, where a second loss actually ends their run. The two survivors meet in a grand final. It’s the format that best protects against one bad match, at the cost of a longer bracket to play through.
Swiss system: a set number of rounds, nobody knocked out.
You set the number of rounds up front, and no team leaves early — everyone plays every round. Round one can be drawn immediately, as shown above. Rally then pairs teams whose results so far look alike, without repeating a matchup while a fresh opponent remains. Only round one exists before results are entered; later rounds are created as scores are confirmed.
What the generator produces is the round-by-round pairings — who plays whom, and in what elimination or ranking order. It doesn’t assign a time or a court: that part is still yours to work out.
