Run a cornhole tournament: registration, brackets and live scores
Block party, tailgate or a fundraiser tournament: cornhole is played in doubles, on several sets of boards at once. Rally keeps the pool, the cancellation scoring and the finals bracket while you handle the grill.
What a cornhole tournament looks like
- Typical format
- Doubles round robin across every set of boards at once, then a double elimination bracket: nobody goes home after one game. For a blind draw night, partners are drawn at random before pool play starts.
- Field size
- 16 to 24 teams of two on 4 to 8 sets of boards, two teams per set; budget about 20 minutes a game when building the schedule.
- Scoring
- Cancellation scoring: 3 points for a bag in the hole, 1 for a bag on the board, only the round differential counts, games to 21.

Running a cornhole tournament
How is a cornhole tournament scored?
Cancellation scoring is standard: 3 points for a bag in the hole, 1 point for a bag on the board, and only the round differential counts. Games go to 21. In Rally the scorekeeper enters each round and standings follow automatically.
Which format works best for cornhole?
Doubles round robin — every team plays everyone — then a double elimination bracket for the qualifiers. Rally builds the pool, the standings and the bracket without a spreadsheet.
What is a blind draw, and can Rally run one?
A blind draw is a night where players sign up solo and partners are drawn on the spot instead of being picked ahead of time. In Rally, your approved player pool goes through the partner draw: say how many players per team, and Rally pairs them at random and names each team after its players. Re-draw as often as you like, swap two players by hand, then confirm. Rally tries not to rebuild a pair already drawn in the same tournament — with a small pool that is not always possible, and it says so plainly instead of refusing to draw.
What is the difference between Swissholio and a Blind Draw?
A Blind Draw forms the doubles teams before competition by drawing partners at random. Swissholio is the competition format that follows: partners stay together, play several rounds and meet an opponent with a comparable record each round. In Rally, use the partner draw to build teams, then the Swiss system for that round-by-round format.
Who enters scores between boards?
One volunteer per set of boards using the scorekeeper link: they enter rounds with no account and no access to organizer settings. Every other team immediately knows when and where they play next.
