The rotation mode tells Rally how to build each round. Popcorn is the starting mode.
- In “Settings”, under “Rotation mode”, open “Mode”.
- Pick the mode that fits your night.
- Click “Change the mode”. The mode applies to every session of the program, from the next round.
Which one to pick
- Popcorn: partners and opponents change, without looking at skill. The most social one, good to start with.
- Balanced mixer: both sides have a close level, based on ratings. Read Run a balanced mixer.
- King of the Court: winners move up toward the king’s court, losers move down. Read Run King of the Court.
- Americano: a new partner every round, and tonight’s standings add up the points. Read Run an Americano.
- Mexicano: after each round, players of a close level meet again. Read Run a Mexicano.
Good to know
- A round already started keeps its games when you change the mode.
- Popcorn and balanced mixer work with synchronized rounds or a court queue. The other three need synchronized rounds.
- The balanced mixer reads everyone’s rating. A player with no rated game starts from the program’s starting rating.
